Advisor to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Finance, Mr. Muzzammil Aslam, has said that public procurement is a cornerstone of good governance, demanding transparency, accountability, and value for money. Efficient procurement, he added, ensures the effective execution of government projects, optimal use of public funds, and the delivery of quality goods and services to citizens.
He expressed these views while addressing the Advisory Group on Public Procurement Conference, organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (KPPRA). At the outset, Mr. Akbar Ali Khan welcomed the Chief Guest, the Managing Directors of the provincial procurement regulatory authorities and their respective teams from across the country.
Mr. Muzzammil Aslam described the Advisory Group on Public Procurement as a vital platform that fosters knowledge sharing, collaboration, and constructive dialogue aimed at improving procurement practices across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and beyond.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the forum provides an opportunity to collectively address systemic challenges, exchange practical experiences, and chart a clear roadmap for strengthening the procurement framework in the province. “Your deliberations will play a critical role in enhancing governance, minimizing procedural gaps, and ensuring that public funds are managed with the highest level of integrity,” he remarked.

Highlighting recent reforms, the Advisor noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has made significant strides in modernizing its procurement processes through the introduction of digital systems such as EPADS. These initiatives, he said, reflect the government’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and alignment with international best practices. Despite this progress, he acknowledged that certain challenges persist, requiring targeted and professional interventions.

Concluding his address, Mr. Aslam expressed gratitude to all participants for their continued dedication to strengthening public procurement. He said he was confident that the outcomes of the conference would yield actionable recommendations and concrete steps to further enhance efficiency and accountability across the province’s procurement ecosystem.
