Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah, chaired an important meeting here on Friday to review progress on the Health Sector Good Governance Road Map. The meeting took stock of targets pertaining to the establishment of the Health Information and Service Delivery Unit (HISDU), phase-wise outsourcing of low-performing hospitals, provision of round-the-clock (24/7) childbirth services across 250 Basic Health Units, healthcare waste management and environmental compliance, strengthening of District Headquarters Hospitals, recruitment of doctors and nurses, polio eradication measures, and routine immunization.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary Health, the Coordinator of the Provincial Emergency Operation Center, and other senior officials and experts from the Health Department and the Directorate General Health Services.
While reviewing progress against the health reform targets, the Chief Secretary directed the concerned authorities to further strengthen routine immunization measures across the province. He commended the performance of the polio eradication team during the July special campaign, particularly appreciating the results achieved in the districts of Tank, South Waziristan Upper, and North Waziristan.
The Chief Secretary also directed the authorities to expedite the process for the establishment of the Health Information and Service Delivery Unit (HISDU) and to ensure the effective, phase-wise implementation of the outsourcing plan for the already identified low-performing hospitals.
The Chief Secretary emphasized that improving governance and service delivery in the health sector remains a top priority of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and directed the health, planning and development and finance departments to work in close coordination to ensure timely achievement of the set targets.
