Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah Chairs Weekly Review Meeting, Assesses Progress on Governance and Development Initiatives

Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah, chaired a weekly review meeting to assess progress on governance and development affairs across the province. The meeting was attended by senior officials, and the forum was given a detailed briefing on ongoing initiatives in various sectors.

The meeting was informed that, on the directives of the Chief Minister, implementation of the good governance reform agenda is underway to ensure improved public service delivery. In this regard, operations against illegal encroachments have been intensified, resulting in the retrieval of 38 kanals of state land during the current week.

The forum was further apprised that, in view of the international situation, monitoring and inspection of 2,590 petrol pumps across the province is ongoing to prevent hoarding and other irregularities.

It was also highlighted that the implementation of the two-year rotation policy for government employees has formally commenced and is being enforced on a regular basis to enhance institutional efficiency.

Regarding tourism, the meeting was briefed that efforts to upgrade and improve existing tourist destinations have been accelerated, which is expected to further promote the tourism sector in the province.

The forum was also updated on the progress of the New General Bus Stand project in Peshawar, which is nearing completion. Upon completion, all bus terminals in the city will be shifted to the new facility, a move expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in Peshawar.

In the health sector, the meeting was informed that the recruitment of 2,400 medical officers is underway to improve healthcare services in districts facing a shortage of doctors.

The meeting also reviewed progress on the preparation of an action plan for the Peshawar Valley Railway project, along with the formulation of a strategy to promote public participation in public-private partnership initiatives.
