Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Social Welfare, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, has stated that the livestock sector serves as the backbone of the province’s economy, and the government is taking all necessary steps to achieve self-sufficiency in this field. He expressed these views while addressing an awareness conference on animal welfare, organized on the occasion of World Animal Day in collaboration with the Department of Livestock and private partners.
The special event was held with the support of Brooke Pakistan and other stakeholders, focusing on the welfare of horses and mules. The chief guest of the event was Syed Qasim Ali Shah, while the guest of honor was Chairman of the Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell, Samiullah Khan. The conference was attended by experts, veterinary doctors, civil society representatives, and people from various walks of life.
In his address, Syed Qasim Ali Shah said that taking care of animals is not only a moral and social responsibility but is also closely linked to public health and the economy. He stated, “Timely vaccination and proper care of animals are essential for their health and well-being, and these small precautions can lead to significantly positive outcomes.”
He further added that the government, in partnership with the private sector, is encouraging initiatives aimed at improving animal health, productivity, and overall welfare.
