An important meeting chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Energy & Power Nazir Ahmad Abbasi was held at the Energy & Power Department. The meeting was attended by the Secretary, Energy & Power Department, senior officials of the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) and other concerned officers.
During the meeting, PEDO officials briefed the Minister on completed, ongoing and upcoming hydropower, solar and other renewable energy projects across the province. The meeting reviewed the progress of projects and future planning.
The Minister directed the relevant authorities to prepare a comprehensive plan for the phased solarization of all government schools, colleges and particularly mosques across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to reduce electricity costs and promote clean and affordable energy.
He further instructed officials to compile complete data on all government buildings, including their electricity requirements and monthly electricity bills, to facilitate a province-wide solarization strategy.
Nazir Ahmad Abbasi said that promoting renewable energy is the need of the hour and that the solarization of public institutions would help reduce electricity expenditures, ensure efficient use of public resources and strengthen environmental sustainability.
The Minister further stated that, in line with the vision of PTI Founder Chairman Imran Khan and under the leadership of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Suhail Afridi, the provincial government is committed to reforms in the energy sector, promotion of renewable energy and timely completion of all energy projects for the benefit of the people.
