Food Poisoning Incident in Haripur: KP Food Authority Takes Swift Action, Outlet Sealed, Legal Proceedings Initiated

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KPFS&HFA) took immediate notice of food poisoning reports circulating on social media and carried out a prompt operation in Haripur.
According to a spokesperson, the food safety team, in coordination with the district administration, conducted a joint operation and visited the affected area to assess the situation. The team also visited the Trauma Center Haripur, where they met with the affected individuals and gathered details about the incident.
Further action was taken as the food safety team raided a food outlet, “Shahi Pizza,” located in a shopping area. During the inspection, extremely poor hygiene conditions were observed in the kitchen.
Officials reported that stale chicken, expired cold drinks, and substandard as well as mislabelled food items were recovered and taken into official custody. In light of serious violations, the outlet was sealed on the spot, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the owner.
Director General KP Food Authority, Kashif Iqbal Jillani, appreciated the team’s prompt action and reiterated that no leniency would be shown to those endangering public health. He further emphasized that strict enforcement actions will continue across the province to ensure the provision of safe and quality food to the public.
