Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government Mina Khan Afridi has taken immediate action on public complaints regarding the overcharging of fees for marriage, death, birth, and divorce certificates, directing that the issuance of official receipts be made mandatory across the province.
Minister Mina Khan Afridi said that providing transparent, fair, and citizen-friendly services is a core objective of local governance, and no negligence or misconduct in fee collection will be tolerated.
He instructed that all village and neighbourhood council secretaries must prominently display the official fee schedule in their offices so citizens are fully informed. He further directed that every applicant must be issued a proper receipt or token without exception.
According to the notification issued by the Local Government Department, the receipt must clearly mention the fee for the respective certificate, and a copy of the receipt must be kept in the office record.
The notification also warns that strict disciplinary action will be taken against any official who violates these instructions.
Mina Khan Afridi reaffirmed that the government is committed to protecting citizens’ rights and will continue introducing reforms to ensure greater transparency and accountability in local government offices.
