In view of the prevailing security environment, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has imposed a temporary restriction on outdoor flying of drones and similar remotely piloted aerial devices across the province as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety.
According to an official public advisory issued from the office of the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkkhwa, all outdoor flights of quadcopters, drones and related aerial equipment by private individuals, commercial operators and organizations have been restricted until further orders. The advisory states that district administrations, in coordination with law enforcement agencies, have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the measure. Any unauthorized drone activity will invite legal action under the relevant laws.
The government of Khyber Pakhtunkkhwa has also urged citizens to adopt precautionary measures in the interest of collective security.
Public have been advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor gatherings, particularly near sensitive or official installations, and to exercise caution in residential colonies and public spaces.
The advisory further cautions citizens against approaching or touching any unidentified flying object debris or suspicious aerial equipment found on the ground. In such cases, the public has been directed to immediately report the matter to the nearest police station or district control room.
In addition, all government departments, attached offices, public sector entities and field formations have been instructed to review and strengthen their security arrangements. The departments have been advised to restrict non-essential outdoor events within official premises and to sensitize staff regarding proper reporting protocols in case of any suspicious aerial activity. Authorities have also been directed to maintain close coordination with district administrations and police for timely information sharing.
The advisory outlines clear procedures for handling suspicious objects or drone wreckage. In the event of recovery of any such device, the area must be immediately cordoned off and access restricted. Only authorized Bomb Disposal Units or trained personnel will be permitted to handle or examine the material, and public access will remain prohibited until formal clearance is granted.
Officials emphasized that the advisory has been issued purely as a precautionary step aimed at ensuring vigilance and safeguarding public safety. Citizens have been urged to remain calm, cooperate fully with authorities and rely solely on verified information disseminated through official channels.
