According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Regional Meteorological Office Peshawar, a westerly weather system is likely to affect the upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from the night of 8th February to 10th February 2026.
Under the influence of this system, rain accompanied by winds and thunderstorms, with snowfall over hilly areas, is expected in Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Upper and Lower Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Buner, Malakand, Battagram, Shangla, Upper and Lower Kohistan, Kolai Pallas, Torghar, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, North and South Waziristan, Lakki Marwat, Tank and Dera Ismail Khan, while hailstorms may also occur at isolated places.
Moreover, snowfall may cause slippery road conditions in Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra and Shangla, with chances of landslides and avalanches in upper hilly areas, along with a noticeable drop in daytime temperatures. The general public has been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, especially to hilly and tourist areas, seek shelter in safe and sturdy buildings during adverse weather, stay away from weak structures, electric poles, trees and signboards, and avoid crossing flooded roads, rivers and streams. Tourists have also been advised to check weather and traffic conditions before travel, avoid trekking, hiking and camping, use experienced local drivers, and carry sufficient food, water, medicines and power banks, as road blockages are possible.
