Provincial Minister for Health Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khaleeq ur Rehman, attended an orientation session on Cervical Cancer Awareness and Prevention organized by the Health Department at Peshawar Barracks for District Health Officers (DHOs) and District Education Officers (Female).
During the session, participants received a comprehensive briefing on the importance of early detection of cervical cancer, preventive vaccination, public awareness, screening programmes, and interdepartmental coordination. Addressing the participants, the Provincial Minister for Health stated that cervical cancer is a preventable disease and that timely diagnosis, effective awareness campaigns, and vaccination can protect a large number of women from this life-threatening illness.
Khaleeq ur Rehman said that the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has placed the protection of women’s health among its highest priorities and remains fully committed to strengthening efforts aimed at preventing cervical cancer. He assured the participants of the Health Department’s full administrative, technical, and operational support, emphasizing that all available resources would be utilized to achieve this important public health objective.
The Provincial Minister urged District Health Officers and District Education Officers (Female) to play an active role in expanding awareness campaigns at the district level so that more women and adolescent girls can benefit from preventive measures, including vaccination and screening services. He reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to promoting public health and ensuring the provision of quality healthcare services for women across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
