Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, has said that Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi is taking effective measures to promote good governance and public welfare in the province.
In a statement issued from his office, Shafi Jan said that the chief minister is personally monitoring the resolution of public issues by visiting the field and ensuring direct engagement with the people. He added that, following the vision and footsteps of PTI founder Imran Khan, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has launched the “Your Chief Minister, With You” programmed to enable direct public access and promote transparency in government affairs. The initiative, he said, will also help save time and public resources.
The special assistant said that the chief minister held the first-ever online Khuli Kacheri for the people of Bajaur, during which government officials were made directly accountable before the public. In the next phase, similar online Khuli Kacheri will be organized for other districts as well as overseas Pakistanis.
Shafi Jan said that instructions have been issued to start work on Swat Motorway Phase-II at the earliest, which will improve travel facilities in Malakand division and boost tourism. He added that a decision has also been taken to soon lay the foundation stone of the Peshawar–Dera Ismail Khan Motorway.
He said that to address the long-standing deprivations of the merged districts, the chief minister has announced a Rs1,000 billion development packages, while projects worth Rs100 billion will be launched to restore Peshawar’s past glory. Work is progressing at a fast pace to improve the city’s beauty and infrastructure.
Shafi Jan clarified that opposition parties and journalists enjoy complete freedom in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf firmly believes in the supremacy of democracy.
He said that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi will visit Sindh on Friday along with members of the provincial assembly, where he will meet detained party workers, civil society representatives and party leadership, and will also address a bar association. He added that the street movement is being led personally by the chief minister.
Shafi Jan said that the imprisonment of PTI founder Imran Khan is a case of political victimization and a blatant violation of democratic values.
