Provincial Minister for Health Khaliq ur Rehman has welcomed the introduction of the Pharmacy Services Policy by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, describing it as an important step towards strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring safe and effective use of medicines across the province.
The Minister stated that integration of pharmacy services in healthcare facilities will significantly improve patient safety and enhance the overall quality of medical treatment. He said the policy aims to ensure the rational use of medicines, promote evidence-based drug therapy, and strengthen the role of pharmacists within the healthcare system.
Under the new policy, pharmacovigilance centers will be established to monitor the safety and effectiveness of medicines. Special emphasis will also be placed on antimicrobial stewardship programs to ensure the responsible use of antibiotics and to combat antimicrobial resistance.
Khaliq ur Rehman further said that the policy will also help improve the medicine supply chain system, including proper storage, handling, and availability of essential medicines in healthcare facilities across the province.
The Health Minister added that the implementation of the Pharmacy Services Policy will help improve therapeutic outcomes, reduce unnecessary hospital stays, and enhance the overall efficiency of healthcare services in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He directed the relevant authorities to ensure effective implementation of the policy in all healthcare establishments so that patients can benefit from safe, quality, and accessible pharmaceutical services.
Khaliq ur Rehman reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to strengthening the health system and ensuring better healthcare facilities for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
