The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Public Health Engineering Department(PHED) Fazal Shakoor Khan on Thursday chaired a review meeting regarding various water supply schemes of districts Mardan and Swabi.
The meeting held at office of the provincial minister in Peshawar which was attended by XEN of Mardan and Swabi.
The Provincial Minister was given a detailed briefing on the ongoing, near-completion, and proposed water supply schemes in Mardan and Swabi. He was also informed about the current progress of the projects, availability of funds, technical challenges, water supply systems, and measures being taken to provide better clean drinking water facilities to the public.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister Fazal Shakoor Khan said that the provision of clean drinking water to the people is among the top priorities of the KP government, and all available resources are being utilized to achieve this objective.
He directed the concerned authorities to further accelerate work on all ongoing projects so that they could be completed within the stipulated timeframe and provide relief to the public.
He emphasized that quality, transparency, and effective monitoring in development projects must be ensured at all costs, adding that any negligence or delay in this regard would not be tolerated. The Provincial Minister further said that emergency measures should be taken in areas facing severe water shortages so that public grievances could be addressed on a priority basis.
Mr Fazal Shakoor Khan also directed the concerned officers to ensure their presence in the field, regularly monitor the projects, and adopt an effective strategy for the timely resolution of public complaints. He added that PHED must perform its responsibilities more effectively with a spirit of public service in order to ensure the provision of clean drinking water on equal basis in both urban and rural areas.
He maintained that the current KP government is taking serious measures to provide basic facilities to the people, and all available resources are being utilized to improve the standard of living of the public through the timely completion of water supply schemes.
