Provincial Minister for Communications & Works Shakeel Ahmad and Adviser to the Chief Minister on Tourism Malik Adil Iqbal Chair High-Level Review Meeting on the KITE Project

Strong displeasure expressed over delays in the construction of Thandiani and Mankyal Roads; officials directed to ensure timely completion of the projects

Provincial Minister for Communications & Works Shakeel Ahmad and the Chief Minister’s Adviser on Tourism Malik Adil Iqbal expressed strong displeasure over the unnecessary delay in the construction of tourist roads, particularly the Thandiani and Mankyal roads, being undertaken under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism and Development (KITE) Project. They directed the relevant authorities to accelerate the pace of work and ensure the timely completion of these important public projects.

The directives were issued while jointly chairing a high-level review meeting on the KITE Project held in Peshawar on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by Member of the National Assembly Arbab Sher Ali, Member of the Provincial Assembly Mian Sharafat Ali, Secretary Communications & Works Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, Additional Secretary Noor-ul-Amin, the Chief Engineer (Foreign Fund), Chief Engineer (West), Director General Tourism, and other concerned officials.

During the meeting, officials of the Communications & Works Department gave a detailed briefing on the tourism development projects being implemented under the KITE Project. Participants thoroughly reviewed the obstacles delaying the construction of the Thandiani and Mankyal roads, assessed the current progress of the projects, and discussed the measures required to ensure their timely completion. Several important decisions were also taken to expedite the execution of these projects.

Provincial Minister Shakeel Ahmad directed that the Project Director of NESPAK must attend the next review meeting so that a comprehensive, practical, and effective framework could be developed for the timely completion of these vital public projects.

He stated that these projects are of immense importance for promoting tourism in the province, strengthening the local economy, and providing improved transportation facilities to the public. He emphasized that the projects have already suffered considerable delays and made it clear that no further negligence or delay would be tolerated.

Adviser to the Chief Minister on Tourism Malik Adil Iqbal stated that the timely completion of tourism infrastructure projects remains one of the government’s top priorities. He added that these projects would not only promote domestic and international tourism but also create new employment opportunities and stimulate economic activity for the local population.

The meeting also decided that review meetings would be held every fifteen days to regularly monitor progress, ensure effective coordination among all concerned departments, and guarantee the timely completion of the projects.
