August 5 marks one of the darkest chapters in recent history, when India unilaterally and unlawfully revoked the special constitutional status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir . This action represented a grave violation of the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people and formed part of a systematic effort to alter the demographic composition of the occupied territory.
Over the past several years, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir has remained one of the most heavily militarised regions in the world. Despite prolonged curfews, communication blackouts, arbitrary detentions of Kashmiri youth, and persistent human rights violations, the spirit and resilience of the Kashmiri people have remained unbroken. In the face of immense hardships and continued oppression, they have steadfastly upheld their legitimate struggle and unwavering commitment to their internationally recognised right to self-determination.
The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the people of the province reaffirm their unwavering moral, political, and diplomatic support for their Kashmiri brothers and sisters and remain committed to standing by their just cause. We call upon the international community, the United Nations, and global human rights organisations to take meaningful notice of the continuing human rights violations in the occupied territory and to play an effective role in ensuring that the Kashmiri people are granted their right to self-determination in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
