An online Knowledge Exchange Meeting was organized by the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), Bangladesh, focusing on Safely Managed Sanitation and further strengthening institutional cooperation between the two sides.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, technical experts and relevant representatives from PHED, KP; Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), Bangladesh; INT-BUET; and UNICEF.
The primary objective of the meeting was to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, technical expertise and practical experiences for the promotion of safe and sustainable sanitation services, enhancement of institutional capacity, and adoption of modern and effective approaches by learning from experiences and best practices from the region.
During the session, participants shared their experiences and practical initiatives related to various approaches to Safely Managed Sanitation, effective planning and management of sanitation systems, institutional strengthening, technical knowledge sharing, and sustainability of sanitation services.
The participants emphasized that safe and sustainable sanitation facilities play a fundamental role in protecting public health, safeguarding the environment and building healthy communities. They also highlighted the importance of continued institutional collaboration and knowledge exchange for improving sanitation services and achieving sustainable outcomes.
The participants agreed to continue the exchange of technical knowledge, best practices, research and practical experiences in the future, while also exploring new opportunities for joint cooperation in the sanitation sector.
The PHED, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reiterated its commitment to benefiting from regional and international experiences and continuing effective measures for the promotion of comprehensive, safe, sustainable and resilient sanitation services across the province.
