PHED makes significant progress in redressal of public complaints

In line with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government’s Good Governance Policy, the vision of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi and special directives of Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering Department Fazal Shakoor Khan, the department has made significant progress in the timely redressal of public complaints.

According to a report issued by the PHED, a total of 1,370 complaints were received through the Department’s Complaint Cell, Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell and Citizen Portal. Of these, 1,019 complaints have been successfully resolved.

However, 331 complaints are currently pending, and action on these cases is in progress at the level of the concerned officers and authorities. Departmental authorities have assured that the pending complaints will also be addressed on a priority basis to ensure timely relief to the public.

As per the report, 13 complaints were found to be irrelevant, while 7 cases were incomplete and were dealt with in accordance with the prescribed rules and procedures.

Region-wise, 9 complaints were received in the Central Region, 49 in the East Region, 16 in the North Region while South Region with 1,296.

The concerned authorities of PHED said that the mechanism for registration, monitoring and follow-up of public complaints is being further strengthened to ensure their prompt and effective resolution.

Mr Fazal Shakoor Khan in this regard said that timely resolution of public issues is among the top priorities of the incumbent KP government and that no complaint would be allowed to remain pending unnecessarily.

He directed the concerned authorities to take immediate action on complaints received and ensure provision of relief to the citizens.

He added that the KP government is taking practical measures to promote good governance, transparency, accountability and improved public service delivery. He maintained that an effective public complaint redressal mechanism plays an important role in further strengthening communication and trust between the government and the people.

The Provincial Minister directed the concerned officers to ensure that all 331 pending complaints are resolved at the earliest and that necessary relief is provided to the complainants without any unnecessary delay.
