Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Muhammad Fakhare Alam Irfan chaired a review meeting on polio eradication in the province. Secretary Health Mutiullah Khan, Emergency Operations Centre Coordinator Sara Rehman and other relevant officials attended.
The meeting was briefed that the target is to vaccinate 6.3 million children against polio in 37 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with more than 32,000 teams deployed for the campaign.
The Chief Secretary directed that better access and high-quality campaigns be ensured to eradicate polio from the province, and that the set targets be achieved through a coordinated strategy.
The meeting was further informed that a polio booster dose campaign has been planned in Peshawar and Khyber at the end of October. Similarly, a national anti-polio campaign and a cervical cancer prevention campaign will also be conducted in November this year.
