The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) has initiated action against an unregistered nursing college in Timergara, Lower Dir, for allegedly conducting academic activities without mandatory registration with the regulatory authority.
According to a notice issued by HERA, Daneen College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, Walai Kandaw, Bajaur Road, Timergara, Lower Dir, has been operating without obtaining the required registration from HERA. The authority also stated that the institution admitted students to its BS Generic Nursing programme without obtaining prior registration from HERA.
HERA termed the admissions and operation of the institution without registration a violation of the relevant laws and regulations. The college administration has been directed to appear before the HERA chairman at 11am on August 11, 2026, to explain its position.
The authority warned that failure to appear or non-compliance could result in legal action against the institution, including imposition of fines, closure, blacklisting and judicial proceedings. The notice also mentioned the possibility of referring the matter to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), among other measures available under the law.
HERA has also informed relevant authorities about the matter. The Deputy Commissioner of Lower Dir has been requested to take necessary measures to protect the interests of students, while the Registrar of Khyber Medical University Peshawar has been asked to take appropriate action regarding the institution’s affiliation, if any, and to ensure that no further admissions are allowed before HERA registration.
The regulatory authority has also requested the Secretary of Information and Public Relations, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to publish an alert in daily newspapers to inform parents and students about the status of the institution and help protect students from potential academic and financial loss.
