A modern sports ground project has been launched in the Peshawar city area to provide improved recreational facilities to residents, Provincial Minister for Higher Education and Local Government Meena Khan Afridi said.
The project, initiated at Government Shaheed Hasnain Sharif Higher Secondary School No 1, is being described as fulfilment of the minister’s election commitments.
According to officials, the scheme includes a dedicated and secure walking and jogging track for women to enable their participation in healthy activities with confidence, along with a futsal ground for youth. Other planned facilities include a synthetic jogging track, basketball and volleyball courts, and a cricket practice area.
The project will also feature installation of LED lights and construction of a boundary wall to ensure a safe and well-equipped environment for the public.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Afridi said the initiative would provide modern facilities to residents of the inner city, particularly benefiting youth and women by promoting positive and healthy engagement.
He added that the government remained committed to ensuring equal provision of facilities in both urban and rural areas so that the benefits of development could reach all segments of society.
