Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, said on Saturday that the warm and enthusiastic reception accorded to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi upon his arrival in Karachi for a Sindh visit had once again underscored Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s growing popularity in the province.

In a statement, he said the massive turnout of party workers and the public reflected that Sindh still stood firmly with the ideology of PTI founder Imran Khan. “PTI has once again proven that it is the country’s only truly national political party, and the entire nation remains united and steadfast with its leader, Imran Khan,” he added.

Shafi Jan said CM Afridi was escorted from Karachi airport to Insaf House in the form of a large rally by party workers. He termed the chief minister’s Sindh visit crucial for injecting fresh momentum into the party’s street movement.

He said that during his three-day visit, the chief minister would meet party leadership, incarcerated party members, workers, as well as lawyers and journalists. He added that CM Afridi would hold a formal meeting with the Sindh chief minister on Monday, while on Sunday he would address a large public gathering at Jinnah Bagh, expected to be attended by a sizeable number of party supporters.

The special assistant said that since the general elections, PTI’s political activities across the country had remained under an undeclared restriction. “On the one hand, PTI founder Imran Khan, along with other leaders and workers, has been unjustly imprisoned, and on the other hand, the party has been denied adequate political space,” he said, adding that CM Afridi broke this political deadlock by launching the street movement from Punjab.

He appreciated the conduct of the Sindh government — particularly Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani — for welcoming the chief minister at the airport, contrasting it with the situation in Punjab. Shafi Jan said political activity was the constitutional and democratic right of every political party across the country, and no one had the authority to curtail it through unconstitutional, undemocratic or illegal means.

He further said that CM Sohail Afridi would also lead the street movement in various areas, including Keamari, Malir, Kotri and Korangi, among others.

A meeting of the Standing Committee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Administration was held on Friday at Peshawar. The meeting was chaired by Member of the Provincial Assembly and Member of the Standing Committee, Fazal Elahi. Besides the members of the Standing Committee and MPAs Aftab Alam, Zarshad Khan, and Ms. Rehana Ismail, officials from the Administration Department, Law Department, Finance Department, and the relevant officers of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Standing Committee was given a detailed briefing on the framework of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Right to Public Services (Amendment) Bill, 2025. The Committee deliberated on the proposed amendments to a total of nine sections of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Act, 2014, aimed at improving administrative affairs and ensuring the provision of effective, timely, and transparent services to the public. On this occasion, the members of the Committee also presented their opinions and suggestions on the proposed amendments.
It was informed in the meeting that under the proposed amendments, all departments involved in public dealing will be made accountable before the RTI Commission, whereas previously only the government was accountable to this Commission. Furthermore, each department will be bound to submit its annual performance report regarding public services to the Commission by 31 March every year, in order to further strengthen transparency, accountability, and public trust.

ISLAMABAD, January 9, 2026 – The Provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa announced the successful completion of a dynamic investors roadshow for the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project, a road connecting Indus Highway N-55 with Hakla D.I. Khan Motorway M-14. The event drew enthusiastic participation from leading construction firms, financial institutions, and private equity investors.

The roadshow, held at Islamabad, showcased the project’s detailed scope, financial arrangements, risk-sharing framework, and implementation timelines. The event provided a platform for stakeholders to engage with government officials and explore opportunities for collaboration.
