Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Tourism, Culture, Archaeology and Museums, Malik Adil Iqbal, chaired an important meeting with a World Bank delegation to review the progress of road infrastructure projects being implemented under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development Project (KITE).
The meeting focused on the construction and upgradation of roads in major tourist destinations, particularly Mankial, Abbottabad and Thandiani, with the aim of improving connectivity and enhancing the overall tourism experience.
Senior representatives from the Tourism Department, Communication and Works Department, Planning and Development Department, the World Bank and other relevant stakeholders attended the meeting.
Participants were briefed on the pace of work, quality standards, implementation challenges and the way forward for the timely completion of the projects. The meeting also discussed measures to ensure that the road schemes are completed in accordance with prescribed quality standards and within the stipulated timelines.
Speaking on the occasion, Malik Adil Iqbal directed all concerned departments to ensure the timely completion of the projects while maintaining high construction standards. He emphasized that improved road infrastructure is essential to providing safe, convenient and reliable access to tourist destinations across the province.
The Special Assistant said that tourism is a key driver of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s economy and that the provincial government is fully committed to investing all available resources to strengthen the sector and unlock its economic potential.
The meeting decided that a follow-up review session on the progress of the projects would be held after 15 days to assess implementation and address any outstanding issues.
