Global Recognition for KP’s Digital Initiatives: KPITB Selected for Prestigious International Award

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan has said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s performance in technology and digital development is being recognized at the global level, which is a proud moment for both the province and the country.
He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) has won the ASOCIO Government Award 2026 in recognition of its outstanding performance in the digital sector, innovation, and promotion of digital governance. He said the award recognizes the KP Government’s initiatives for digital governance, digitization of public services, and provision of modern facilities to citizens.
The Minister information said that the recognition of KPITB’s performance by ASOCIO, a leading technology organization in the Asia-Oceania region, is a matter of pride for the government and people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He added that ASOCIO’s federation comprises 24 member countries, including Australia, Japan, South Korea, India, Thailand, and New Zealand.
Shafi Jan said the KP Government is making extensive use of modern technology to improve public services, simplify government facilities, and make the governance system more effective.
He said that, in line with the vision of Founding Chairman Imran Khan, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi has placed special focus on Digital Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, under which citizens are being provided with modern, fast, and convenient digital services.
Shafi Jan said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, making Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a hub of modern technology is among the top priorities of the provincial government. Through digital governance and promotion of technology, the delivery of public services is being made easier, more transparent, and more efficient.
He said the KP Government is fully committed to advance its digital reform agenda and will continue taking steps to further strengthen the province’s position in digital development and enhance its global recognition.
The award will be formally presented to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board during the ASOCIO Summit in Indonesia, which will be held from October 5 to 7, 2026, in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.
He said that this international recognition is clear evidence of the KP Government’s success in implementing its digital policy and effectively using technology to improve public services.

It is worth noting that, over the past few years, the province has received numerous national and international awards and widespread recognition in IT sector including the PASHA ICT Awards, WSIS Awards, and APTICA Award.
