Chief Minister’s Adviser Malak Liaqat Ali Khan Conducts Detailed Visit to Lower Chitral, Reviews Social Welfare Services

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Adviser for Zakat & Ushr, Social Welfare, Special Education and Women Empowerment, Malak Liaqat Ali Khan, along with Director Social Welfare Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Saleh, conducted a detailed visit to Lower Chitral. The purpose of the visit was to review, at the grassroots level, the services being provided in the fields of social welfare, special education, women’s protection, rehabilitation and child protection, and to identify measures for addressing the challenges being faced in these sectors.
During the visit, the Chief Minister’s Adviser visited the District Social Welfare Office and various field formations and held meetings with departmental officers and staff, beneficiaries and other relevant stakeholders.
The Adviser visited the District Social Welfare Office, Dar-ul-Aman, the Centre for Children with Mental and Physical Disabilities, the Social Services Medical Centre, and the Mental Health & GBV Desk. Upon his arrival at the District Office, District Social Welfare Officer Lower Chitral Khizar Hayat received the Adviser and his delegation in the traditional manner and gave a detailed briefing on the various services being provided by the department in the district, ongoing initiatives, future plans, and the issues and challenges faced by the field formations.
The Chief Minister’s Adviser reviewed the performance of various field formations, available facilities and services being provided to the public and met with the concerned officers and staff. He said that the provincial government was taking practical steps to further improve the welfare of deserving, vulnerable and underprivileged segments of society. He added that ensuring quality and accessible social welfare services for people in remote areas was among the government’s top priorities.
On the occasion, Malak Liaqat Ali Khan announced that the primary school established for persons with disabilities in Lower Chitral would be upgraded to middle level, so that persons with special needs could have access to further educational facilities at the local level.
Malak Liaqat Ali Khan assured full support for resolving the issues faced by the Social Welfare Department and emphasized the upgradation, strengthening and improvement of facilities at all field formations of the department, including special education institutions, to ensure the provision of better and more effective services to the public.
The Chief Minister’s Adviser also announced the establishment of a Social Welfare Complex in Lower Chitral, aimed at providing various services related to social welfare, persons with disabilities, women, children and other deserving segments under an integrated and effective system.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister’s Adviser also held an open court at Town Hall Chitral, which was attended by persons with disabilities (PWDs), women, district administration officers, heads and representatives of line departments, civil society, representatives of various organizations, and people from different segments of society.
The Chief Minister’s Adviser listened in detail to the issues, complaints and concerns of the participants and issued necessary instructions to the relevant authorities for their resolution.
Furthermore, Child Protection Officer Madad Khan briefed the Chief Minister’s Adviser on the services, activities and challenges of the Child Protection Unit Lower Chitral, while District Zakat Chairman Irshad briefed him on the services, initiatives and performance of the District Zakat Office Lower Chitral.
The Chief Minister’s Adviser directed the concerned officers to further improve the delivery of public welfare services and ensure effective measures for the prompt resolution of issues faced by deserving persons, persons with disabilities, women, children and other vulnerable segments of society.
The visit to Lower Chitral proved to be an important step towards reviewing the Social Welfare Department’s services and facilities at the grassroots level, maintaining direct interaction with field staff, listening to public concerns and identifying challenges faced by the department.
At the conclusion of the visit, Malak Liaqat Ali Khan reiterated his commitment to further strengthening and improving social welfare, special education and women empowerment services across Chitral and all districts of the province. He said that all available resources would be utilized to provide better, quality and accessible facilities to deserving, vulnerable and underprivileged segments of society.
