
Excise teams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have foiled two attempts to smuggle narcotics, recovering 25.7 kilograms of drugs and arresting two accused in separate operations in Khyber district and Peshawar.
The seizures include 20.9 kg of charas in Khyber, and 4.8 kg of charas and 1.5 kg of heroin in Peshawar. Cases have been registered against both accused, and further investigation is underway.
The operations were carried out under the provincial government’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and directives issued by Provincial Excise Minister. Excise teams are taking effective action to curb the trafficking and smuggling of narcotics.
According to details provided by the Excise Department, the Excise Police Station Khyber team, led by SHO Ali Jan Khan, acted on a tip-off on Shah Kas Road. The team stopped a loader rickshaw with no number plate and, during a search, recovered 20,900 grams of charas.
Muhammad Ullah, son of Ali Amin,a resident of Bara, district Khyber, was arrested on the spot. A case has been registered against him at Excise Police Station Khyber for further investigation and legal action.
In the second operation, the Excise Police Station Peshawar team foiled a smuggling bid and arrested a motorcyclist. A search of the accused yielded 4,800 grams of charas and 1,500 grams of heroin. The accused was identified as Khan Dad, son of Lal Muhammad, who is currently residing in Karkhano, Peshawar, and is a permanent resident of Afghanistan. A case has been registered against him at Excise Police Station Peshawar, and an investigation has been launched.
The Excise Department said its campaign against narcotics will continue without interruption, and that strict legal action will be taken against all elements involved in the smuggling and sale of drugs.
