The Prime Minister’s Coordination Committee members on Regulatory Reforms visited Peshawar on Thursday and called on Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr. Fakhre Alam Irfan, at his office. The Chief Secretary chaired a meeting to review progress on measures under the RISING Pakistan initiative.
Adviser to the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Industries and Commerce, Muhammad Irshad, administrative secretaries of the concerned departments and other senior officials also attended the meeting.
Members of the Committee briefed the Chief Secretary on progress made under various national and sub-national interventions, including Asaan Karobar, the Pakistan Regulatory Registry, the Pakistan Business Portal, the Export Policy Order and the Import Policy Order.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary directed the concerned departments to hold regular meetings to review ongoing reform measures at the provincial level, describing the matter as one of the government’s top priorities. He also directed that the Provincial Steering Committee be convened regularly.
The Adviser on Industries and Commerce stressed that all measures should be implemented on a fast-track basis so that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa does not lag behind other provinces.
The committee members proposed integrating the province’s digital applications with the Pakistan Business Portal to ensure that national and international investors have access to both provincial and federal services through a single digital platform.
