He expressed these views during a special visit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Employees Social Security Institution (KP ESSI), where he was given detailed briefing on administrative and financial structure, medical facilities, performance and future plans of the institution. Secretary Labour Department Abdul Basit was also accompanying him.
Amir Javed said that the institution already has legal mandate, resources, medical centres and social protection facilities, however, real importance is that results of these facilities should also be visible to workers and their families in practical terms. Mere presence of system and facilities is not enough, but their effective functioning, timely provision and results at public level are necessary.
It was informed in the briefing that the institution is working under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Employees Social Security Act 2021 and provides free treatment, medicines, various medical and financial benefits in case of sickness, maternity, accidents, disability and death to registered employees of industrial and commercial establishments and their dependent family members. The institution has 38 medical centres across the province, while during January to October 2026, OPD facility was provided to 306,868 patients.
The Adviser directed that effective review of functioning of medical centres, availability of medicines, ambulance service, referral system and provision of financial benefits should be carried out, while obstacles in access of registered workers to facilities should be removed. He also stressed on expansion of scope of registration, effective use of digital system and further strengthening of accountability in administrative and medical sectors of the institution.
Amir Javed made it clear that real measure of success of the institution is not number of files, statistics and projects but timely treatment, financial protection and real relief provided to workers. There is a need that by utilizing existing resources and established system with full capacity, performance results should also be visible on ground.
