Advisor to the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Local Government, Transport, Communications and Works, Agriculture and Livestock, Fisheries, and Housing, Asif Rafiq, visited the offices of the Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives Department on Thursday.
On the occasion, Secretary Livestock, Zarif-ul-Maani, gave the Advisor a detailed briefing on ongoing activities, development projects, proposed future initiatives, and the challenges facing the livestock sector in the province.
During the briefing, the Livestock Sector Transformation Roadmap 2031, designed to modernize the sector, accelerate its development, and fully capitalize on its economic potential, was also presented.
The meeting was attended by the Director General Livestock Extension, Director General Livestock Research, Director General Fisheries, Registrar Cooperative Societies, and other relevant officials.
The briefing covered ongoing and proposed development projects, service delivery mechanisms, capacity building, the adoption of modern technologies, administrative and financial challenges, and emerging opportunities for the development of the livestock sector across the province. Detailed discussions were also held on strengthening institutional capacity and improving the overall efficiency of the sector.
The Advisor also visited various sections of the Livestock Department, including the Livestock Studio and the Livestock Management Information System (LMIS) section. He reviewed ongoing initiatives aimed at digitalization, the development of modern information systems, and the effective dissemination of information to farmers and livestock owners through media platforms.
Asif Rafiq expressed his commitment to promoting the livestock sector, improving the economic well-being of farmers, and making service delivery more effective through enhanced coordination, an integrated strategy, and collective efforts among all relevant institutions.
He reaffirmed that joint measures would be undertaken to harness the vast potential of the livestock sector and transform it into an effective driver of economic growth, employment generation, and rural prosperity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
