Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Moatasim Billah Shah has conducted surprise inspections of the Service Delivery Centre, Tehsildar Office, Patwar Khanas and Girdawar Circles in Kohat under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s Good Governance Programme, directing officials to ensure timely and transparent services to the public.
During the inspections, Shah reviewed service counters, sections and official records and sought updates from officials on applications from citizens, land records, mutations, issuance of land documents and other revenue-related matters. He also inspected electricity supply, cleanliness, discipline and other basic facilities at the offices, directing the authorities to ensure adequate facilities for both citizens and staff.
Commissioner Shah said unnecessary delays in public revenue matters would not be tolerated and applicants should receive services within the prescribed timeframe. He also stressed that government records must be regularly updated, accurately maintained and properly secured.
The Commissioner also met the citizens present at the offices and listened directly to their complaints and concerns regarding government services. He issued directions to relevant officials for the prompt resolution of their problems.
“Good Governance is aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability and effective service delivery in government institutions,” Shah said, urging officials and staff to perform their duties with a public-service mindset and spare citizens unnecessary waiting and bureaucratic hurdles. He declared surprise inspections would continue to monitor service delivery at government offices and in the field, with particular attention to resolve public complaints and improving institutional performance.
