Provincial Minister for Health Khaliq-ur-Rehman and Secretary Health Shahid Ullah Khan have reaffirmed the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s commitment to ensuring a safe, secure, and violence-free working environment for healthcare professionals and health facilities across the province.
In this regard, an important consultative process is underway for the finalization of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Healthcare Service Providers and Facilities (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Rules, 2026. Following a detailed review meeting chaired by Secretary Health Shahid Ullah Khan, all stakeholders, professional bodies, healthcare experts, and relevant institutions were invited to provide their valuable feedback and recommendations on the draft rules.
The Health Department highly appreciates the constructive suggestions and observations received from participants. In light of these recommendations, the draft rules have been revised and updated to ensure comprehensive protection for healthcare workers, patients, attendants, and public health infrastructure.
Provincial Health Minister Khaliq-ur-Rehman stated that the government remains fully committed to protecting doctors, nurses, paramedics, and all healthcare personnel from violence, harassment, and damage to public property. He emphasized that a secure healthcare environment is essential for improving service delivery and strengthening public confidence in the health system.
Secretary Health Shahid Ullah Khan directed all concerned stakeholders to thoroughly review the revised draft and submit any final comments with specific references to the relevant sections within the stipulated timeframe. He stressed that the process must be completed on priority basis so that the draft may be submitted to the Law Department for formal vetting and subsequent approval.
The Health Department aims to complete the consultative exercise within the prescribed timeline and finalize a robust legal framework that safeguards healthcare providers and health facilities while ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
