Provincial government is taking effective measures to provide integrated and modern emergency services to the public, says Tariq Saeed Marwat
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs, Tariq Saeed Marwat, has said that the provincial government is taking effective measures to provide the public with modern, integrated and efficient emergency services.
He expressed these views while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Pakhtunkhwa Emergency Helpline (PEHL-911). Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Tribal Affairs Department, Ikramullah Khan, senior government officials, representatives of law enforcement agencies and other concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
Participants were given a comprehensive briefing on the PEHL-911 project. They were informed that the initiative marks a significant step towards establishing an integrated, modern and round-the-clock emergency response system in the province. Through PEHL-911, citizens will be able to access the police, Rescue services, PDMA and other emergency services by dialing a single emergency number, 911.
The briefing further highlighted that citizens will be able to place emergency calls to 911 even without an active SIM card or mobile network, enabling timely assistance and guidance in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Tariq Saeed Marwat said that PEHL-911 would play a pivotal role in modernizing the province’s public safety and emergency response system. He directed the concerned authorities to establish an effective mechanism to prevent fake and unnecessary calls so that the helpline’s capacity remains available for genuine emergencies.
He further directed that a comprehensive system be developed for the effective monitoring, tracking and follow-up of all incoming calls and reported emergency incidents to ensure the timely delivery of efficient and quality emergency services to the public.
