Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, accompanied by Secretary Information Matiullah Khan, visited the Command and Control Center of the Safe City Project at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines, Peshawar.
During the visit, relevant police officers gave a comprehensive briefing and demonstration of the wireless control system, crisis management system, and other operational units. He was informed that the Peshawar Safe City Project has been completed at an estimated cost of PKR 2 billion. Under the initiative, 711 state-of-the-art surveillance cameras have been installed at 133 key and sensitive locations across the city. The Command and Control Center serves as a centralized hub, integrating surveillance, data analytics, and emergency response on a unified platform.
The Special Assistant was further briefed that efforts are underway to introduce an e-challan system aimed at improving traffic management and ensuring effective enforcement of traffic regulations.
Speaking on the occasion, Shafi Jan stated that the Safe City Project is a modern, technology-driven and integrated security system that will play a pivotal role in maintaining law and order in Peshawar. He noted that the project will significantly enhance police capacity and contribute to effective crime prevention.
He further added that Safe City projects in Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, and Lakki Marwat are nearing completion, which will further strengthen the province-wide security framework.
Shafi Jan emphasized that the provincial government is taking concrete steps to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for citizens, adding that initiatives like the Safe City Project represent a major advancement aligned with modern urban security needs.
