Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs, Tariq Saeed Marwat, participated as chief guest in a special seminar organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Centre of Excellence for Countering Violent Extremism (KPCVE).
The seminar featured detailed discussions on counter-terrorism, prevention of violent extremism, sustainable peace and stability, promotion of law and order, and fostering tolerance and social harmony.
Speaking on the occasion, Tariq Saeed Marwat reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to establishing lasting peace and combating extremism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said protection of the lives and property of citizens, maintenance of law and order, and creation of a safe and peaceful society remain among the government’s foremost priorities.
He said that efforts by law-enforcement agencies alone were not sufficient to counter extremism and violence. The government, state institutions, educational circles, civil society and the public must work collectively to address the underlying causes of extremism. He emphasized that promoting tolerance, mutual respect, social harmony and positive thinking could play an important role in preventing extremist tendencies.
Tariq Saeed Marwat said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had made immense sacrifices for peace and that the provincial government highly valued these sacrifices. He reaffirmed that efforts to establish sustainable peace would be further strengthened through improved coordination among relevant institutions and a more effective and integrated strategy.
The Special Assistant said peace, stability and a secure Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were a shared responsibility, requiring every segment of society to play a constructive role.
He appreciated the efforts of KPCVE in organizing the seminar and promoting awareness, dialogue and informed discussion on preventing violent extremism.
