Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Technical Education, Muhammad Usman Khan Bettani, said that providing technical education and vocational skills to the youth is the key to sustainable employment and economic stability in the province. He termed the provision of Income Generating Projects, Livelihood Grants and Non-Food Items by Qatar Charity a commendable initiative, stating that the distribution of rickshaw loaders, electric sewing machines and other business equipment will help empower young people, create dignified employment opportunities and contribute to their economic rehabilitation.
He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony jointly organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (KP-TEVTA) and Qatar Charity at a local hotel in Peshawar. The event was attended by H.E. Yousuf Mohammed Hussein Saleh Al Braik, Ambassador of the State of Qatar; Secretary Industries, Commerce and Technical Education Amjad Ali Khan; Qatar Charity Pakistan Programs Manager Waqas Haleem; Regional Director Jassim Mohammed Al Sumaiti; and Managing Director KP-TEVTA Abdul Qadir Shah, who also addressed the participants.
On the occasion, Muhammad Usman Khan Bettani said that the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is implementing comprehensive reforms to align technical education with the needs of industry so that young people acquire skills that are in demand in the job market. He said that the government’s responsibility is not merely to award certificates but to equip students with practical skills, enabling them to secure dignified employment or establish their own businesses after completing their education.
He further stated that the government’s vision is to strengthen institutional governance in the technical education sector, enhance collaboration with industry, improve the performance of training institutions and effectively link technical education with economic development. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that every training programme leads to employment, self-reliance and economic empowerment, enabling youth to play a meaningful role in national development.
The Special Assistant appreciated the services of Qatar Charity, noting that the organization has been working in Pakistan for many years in the fields of humanitarian assistance, welfare and economic rehabilitation. He said Qatar Charity is not only providing sustainable livelihood opportunities to deserving individuals but is also contributing to long-term development through business support, quality improvement, beneficiary guidance and continued assistance.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Special Assistant Muhammad Usman Khan Bettani and H.E. Yousuf Mohammed Hussein Saleh Al Braik distributed rickshaw loaders, electric sewing machines and other business equipment to trained beneficiaries under the Livelihood Grants programme, while Non-Food Items were also distributed among deserving families.
It was also shared that Qatar Charity had distributed 122 wheelchairs among deserving persons in the districts of Peshawar, Mardan and Charsadda. The distinguished guests later visited exhibition stalls showcasing the project’s activities and reviewed various components of the initiative.
