The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission (KPPSC) has entered a new era of merit-based recruitment with the launch of its Computer-Based Ability Testing (CBT) system, marking a major digital transformation in the conduct of public service examinations. The initiative has been undertaken in collaboration with the Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA), combining institutional expertise and technological capacity to modernise the testing process.
The first-ever computer-based tests under the new system are being conducted from September 24, 2026, with tests for Senior Instructor (Criminology) and Law Officer being held today, followed by examinations for Mobile Application Developer and Network Administrator on September 25 at the KPPSC IT Lab in Peshawar.
The initiative represents a significant shift from conventional paper-based testing towards a faster, more secure, transparent and technology-driven examination system.
The new CBT system is expected to substantially improve examination efficiency and accelerate the compilation of results, reducing the time and administrative effort traditionally required for paper-based tests and manual processing.
The transition to computer-based testing will also significantly reduce the Commission’s dependence on printed question papers, answer sheets and other paper-based examination material, resulting in savings in printing, paper, stationery, transportation, storage and related administrative expenditure.
Most importantly, the digital testing environment will strengthen examination security and help curb the use of unfair means, with greater control over the testing process and reduced human handling of examination material.
The introduction of CBT is therefore not merely a technological upgrade, but a major institutional reform aimed at making public-sector recruitment more efficient, transparent, secure and responsive.
With the launch of CBT, KPPSC has taken an important step towards bringing the province’s public service recruitment system in line with modern, technology-enabled examination practices, while creating a stronger foundation for faster and more reliable recruitment processes in the future.From paper-based examinations to digital testing, KPPSC has opened a new chapter in the evolution of competitive examinations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
