Peshawar: In the presence of the Hon’ble Speaker, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Babar Saleem Swati, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today at the Speaker’s Office, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Secretariat, between the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the international organization Edu Tourism for Unity.
The MoU was signed on behalf of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly by Syed Wiqar Shah, Secretary, KP Assembly, while Muhammad Daniyal Akram, Overseas Executive Director, Edu Tourism for Unity, signed on behalf of the organization.
Members of the Provincial Assembly Ahmad Kareem Kundi and Muneer Hussain Lughmani were also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the ceremony, Speaker Babar Saleem Swati said that strengthening the professional capacity of elected representatives and the Assembly Secretariat staff is fundamental to building a strong, effective and modern parliamentary institution. He added that collaboration with international organizations, leadership development programmes and structured study tours would provide Members of the Assembly and parliamentary staff with valuable exposure to global best practices, thereby enhancing legislation, public representation and institutional performance.
Under the MoU, both organisations will collaborate in the areas of parliamentary capacity building, leadership development, national and international study tours, educational exchanges, and initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The agreement further provides that all activities, nominations and programmes undertaken under the MoU shall be subject to the approval and oversight of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Secretariat, ensuring transparency, institutional accountability, confidentiality and effective coordination between the two parties.
