A high-level meeting was held in the Conference Room of the Provincial Assembly under the chairmanship of Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Babar Saleem Swati, to review the recent incident in Naran and to further strengthen coordination among emergency service institutions in the province, ensuring timely, coordinated, and effective response in any emergency situation.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Relief and Rehabilitation Sohail Khan, Director General Rescue 1122 Shah Fahd, District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Mansehra Abrar Ali, Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Society Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Farzand Ali Wazir, Provincial Secretary Pakistan Red Crescent Society Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Abid-ur-Rehman Marwat, along with other concerned officials.
During the meeting, various aspects of the recent incident in Naran were thoroughly reviewed, and deliberations were held on strengthening integrated strategies and mutual cooperation among institutions to effectively respond to such emergencies in the future.
On the occasion, Speaker Babar Saleem Swati stated that Rescue 1122 is a highly important institution of the provincial government, directly linked with the protection of human lives. Due to this critical role, public expectations from the institution are very high. However, given the vast geographical landscape of the province and the diverse nature of emergencies, it is not always possible for a single organization to ensure effective coverage and immediate response at every location.
He emphasized that the most effective solution to this challenge lies in strong coordination, joint planning, and mutual cooperation among Rescue 1122, Pakistan Red Crescent Society, Civil Defence, and other relevant institutions. By utilizing their capabilities under an integrated system, the emergency response capacity in the province can be significantly enhanced, ensuring better and timely services to the public.
The Speaker further stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly will continue to play its active and effective role in this regard. The primary objective of today’s meeting was to promote inter-agency harmony and lay the foundation for a joint future strategy.
He added that another consultative meeting will soon be convened, in which additional stakeholders will be invited, so that the emergency response system in the province can be made more effective, integrated, and aligned with modern requirements, ensuring comprehensive measures for the protection of lives and property of the public.
