
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Malakand organized a special event to mark World Podcast Day 2026, bringing together faculty members and students to discuss the growing role of podcasts and emerging digital technologies in journalism.
Themed “The Power of the Journalist Podcast vs Algorithm Tutor,” the event was organized by Assistant Professor Dr. Sajjad Ali of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Dean of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Arab Naz and Dean of Arts and Humanities Prof. Dr. Qaiser Khan attended the event as chief guests.
Addressing the gathering, the distinguished guests appreciated the students’ participation and highlighted the challenges facing the media in the digital age, emerging opportunities and the future of journalism. They also emphasized the changing trends in digital media and the importance of effectively utilizing modern journalistic tools and platforms.
Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication Assistant Professor Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed, Assistant Professor Dr. Jan Muhammad, Lecturer Masood Hassan and Lecturer Fidaullah were also present on the occasion.
The event also featured screenings of documentaries produced by the students, showcasing their creative skills and highlighting various dimensions of modern digital journalism. The documentaries were appreciated by faculty members and participants.
At the conclusion of the event, the faculty members appreciated the students’ creative efforts and encouraged them to actively engage with digital journalism, podcasting and other emerging media platforms to further develop their professional skills and creative potential.
